FAQ Questions about Car Carrier

What are the considerations for transporting Electric Vehicles (EVs)?

Assuming that the battery charge is sufficient for loading and unloading, The remaining battery capacity is loaded with an upper limit of 50% charge to prevent thermal runaway of the battery. After loading, the power is turned off to minimize power consumption. Many EVs are designed to automatically lock their tires in the event of an electric shortage, so in the unlikely event that the battery runs out of charge, the vehicle will need to be lifted and towed, and it will be necessary to confirm in advance whether the destination (discharging site) has such facilities.

Can you load only self-propelling cargo to a RoRo ship?

In addition to self-propelling cargo, we can transport cargo that cannot move by itself by loading it on trailers or using forklifts.

What is the frequency of shipping?

MOL ships approximately once or twice per month, depending on the destination.

How do you load construction machinery?

Car carriers are equipped with liftable decks that can change the height of the ceilings (floors). Tall cargo (construction machinery and trucks) can be loaded by changing the deck configuration according to the height of the cargo.

Can we ask you to handle the customs clearance?

We are sorry, but we cannot do that. We may be able to refer you to our group company to handle loading and discharging at a port. Please feel free to contact us.

Can you load used vehicles/used construction machinery?

Yes, we can also load used vehicles. We can refer you to a forwarder for shipment of used vehicles if needed.

Which destinations are you serving?

Please refer to our service map. Even if you do not find your destination in our service map, our group companies or our global service network may be able to cover that. Please feel free to contact us.

We may transfer cargo onto connecting vessel at a port on the way to the cargo's final destination, depending on a combination of loading and discharging ports.

What are possible reasons causing a schedule change or delayed?

Common reasons are inclement weather (typhoon and high waves due to strong wind) and berth congestion at a previous port.

Why would you need to change a vessel name?

When it is difficult to keep a loading position due to reasons such as a delay, we are able to keep our loading position by using an alternative vessel, leveraging the scale of our fleet.

Can you provide service to a port that you do not serve on your regular schedule?

It is possible to create a service by addinal port calling if you have a certain quantity of cargo. Please inquire.

How many crew members are there on a vessel?

The crew is typically 25 including a captain, navigation officers, a chief engineer, engineers, and cooks.
