Bulbous Bow
Bulbous bow is an extension of the hull just below the load waterline. Its basic purpose is to create a low-pressure zone to reduce or eliminate the bow wave and thus reduce the resulting drag. As the ship moves through the water, the bulbous bow modifies the water flow around the hull, thereby reducing the drag and increasing speed, range, and stability.
