BWM Convention (the Ballast Water Management Convention)

The Ballast Water Management Convention, formally known as the International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships’ Ballast Water and Sediments, 2004, is an international treaty adopted by the IMO to prevent the spread of harmful aquatic organisms through ships’ ballast water and sediments by establishing global standards for ballast water management and treatment.
