Draft
A draft line refers to a line where the surface of outside water reaches on the side of a ship when it is floating. The vertical distance from the bottom of the ship to the draft line is called a draft. While a draft changes according to the amount of cargo, ballast water, and fuel, cargo can be loaded up to the draft line (such as a summer load line) where a certain buoyant force is secured.
