GLOSSARY

Open Loop

Open loop is a type of regasification system that uses sea water as a heat source to regasify LNG. There are two types: a direct open loop type that exchanges heat directly between sea water and LNG, and an indirect open loop type that uses a heating medium such as glycol-water mixture. LNG is heated with sea water, and the cooled sea water is returned to the sea.
