Port Service
This refers to the entire range of port services that are required when a ship enters and exits a port or when it operates at a port for an extended period of time. Specifically, services include arrangement for tugboats, patrol ships, and pilots; various applications to port authorities; communication with the ship and the operating company; facilitating payment of port costs; and arrangement for bunkering. These services are often arranged by the operating company of the ship, usually consigned to a port agent at each port to conduct the actual work.
