Residence Card

A residence card is issued to a foreign national who is living in Japan for three months or longer. A residence card contains the holder's name, date of birth, sex, country of citizenship or region, address, residency status, residency period, permission to work and other entries. The holder is required to notify authorities in the event of any change in the entries. Where the holder is 16 years or older, their photograph is also displayed on the residence card.
