RORO Ship
RORO is an abbreviation for roll-on/roll-off. RORO ships transport trucks and trailers that can load (roll-on) and unload (roll-off) themselves from the ship. Mitsui O.S.K. Lines group provides domestic RORO ship services that serve predetermined ports on a regular basis just like ferries. They mainly carry unmanned trailers, commercial vehicles (such as new and used passenger cars, trucks, and agricultural machinery) and manned trucks. Domestic RORO ships are regulated under the Coastal Shipping Act, and as such, general passenger cars cannot be transported.
