FRU
Abbreviation for Floating Regasification Unit. An FRU heats up LNG to regasify it offshore for distribution to a pipeline at high-pressure gas. Unlike a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU), it has no LNG storage function. It is recommended to be combined with a Floating Storage Unit (FSU) to provide a regasification function at low cost and short lead time for small-scale LNG demand.
